The 10th Conference on Cognition Research of the Israeli Society for Cognitive Psychology

After our conference was held in a virtual format due to the global Covid-19 pandemic for two consecutive years, we are happy to announce that we will be celebrating the tenth anniversary of the Conference on Cognition Research of the Israeli Society for Cognitive Psychology on site on February 14-16, 2023, at the Knights Youth Hostel and Guest House in Akko (Acre) ( ).
As in previous years, our aim is to bring together the large and diverse Israeli cognitive community of researchers and students in a single venue to share their research and perspectives on this rapidly advancing field.

Please note the following deadlines :

  • Deadline for abstract submission for symposia, individual talks, and posters (including conference registration): November 30th, 2022
  • Notification of abstract/symposium acceptance: December 15th, 2022
  • Deadline for payment for accommodation at the Knights Hostel: January 10th, 2023.

Abstract submission: Note that the submission of abstracts will be allowed only after the submitting author has registered to the conference. Co-authors and people who wish to attend the conference without presenting must also register.

Registration for the conference and submission of abstracts will be done through our website ( ). Please see the website for further instructions. [The website is currently closed but will be updated soon.]

Program : The conference will include short oral presentations by students and faculty (15 minutes in length, followed by a 5-minute discussion period) as well as poster sessions. All symposia, individual talks and posters are to be presented in English. Information about the full program will be published on the website once abstract submission is completed .

Symposia: Symposia should be composed of 4 – 5 speakers around a common theme, and must include speakers from multiple institutions (ideally no more than 2 speakers from the same institution). This aspect of the proposal will play a central role in the selection of the symposia. An author cannot take part in more than one symposium, and cannot present an individual talk in addition to the symposium talk presentation. Any double submission will be automatically rejected. Note that this year, in order to allow more presenters to give talks, fewer symposia may be accepted than in previous years.

Submission process for symposium proposals and abstracts:

(1) General symposium proposal: Each symposium coordinator should send, by email, a general abstract introducing the symposium topic, along with the different speakers' talk titles and personal details (names and email addresses). This general symposium abstract should be sent to both Yoav Kessler ( ) and Dominique Lamy ( ).

(2) Individual symposium-talk abstracts: Each presenting author of the proposed symposium should submit an individual abstract through the regular submission portal and select “symposium talk” as the requested type of presentation category.

NOTE: In considering whether to participate in a symposium proposal, please be aware that if the symposium itself cannot be accommodated, each individual symposium-talk abstract will automatically be treated as a regular-talk abstract submission (unless specified otherwise by the author during the submission process).

Keynote lectures: As in past years, the conference will feature one or more keynote speakers, soon to be selected.

Conference registration fees:

1. Registration fees are 200 NIS for students, and 400 NIS for researchers and faculty. There are no partial registration schemes. Please note that these prices are exceptionally low relative to other local and international conferences, and are meant to cover the conference expenses only. For those who need a signed receipt for reimbursement, please bring a printed copy of the electronic receipt to the conference site, where it can be signed at the front desk. There will be no reimbursement in cases of cancellations for personal reasons.

Important note regarding the Covid-19 situation

The conditions of the onsite conference will conform to the COVID-19 related government guidelines and regulations that are in effect at the time of the conference.

However, in the case that a renewed wave of the global Covid-19 pandemic prevents us from holding the conference on site, the event will be moved to an online format, similar to last year’s. Registered participants will be informed of this change no later than three weeks before the conference, and all accepted speakers will be given the option to convert to an online poster format. Such a change will not qualify as a justification for requesting a reimbursement of the registration fees. By registering to the conference, the registrants must agree to these conditions.

2. Half-board accommodation at the Knights Youth Hostel and Guest House will be posted soon on the conference website. The deadline for payment for accommodation at the Knights Hostel is January 10th, 2023.

3. Lunch and dinner options will be available at the guesthouse for attendees who are staying elsewhere.

4. The rooms at the conference venue are well suited for multiple occupancy (2 to 5 persons). The number of rooms is limited, therefore, early registration is highly recommended. Additional rooms are available for conference attendees at the nearby Akkotel (, Akkotika (, Efendi Hotel ( and Hotel Hof Hatmarim (

5. The cancellation policy for accommodation reservations are under the sole responsibility of the hostel and hotels, and can be found on their websites.

We hope to see you all!
