A PhD position is available to work on the ANR project 'Cognitive Aging, Emotion, Strategies: studies in memory and arithmetic'. Emotion-cognition interactions change during ageing: Some effects of emotion on cognition decrease with age, others increase. We ignore the underlying age-related changes in emotion-cognition interactions. To address this issue, we shall test the original strategic variations hypothesis : effects of emotion on cognition are mediated by differences in strategies and in how participants use, execute, and select strategies.

We are a multidisciplinary team from Cruces University Hospital, Biocruces Bizkaia Health Research Institute and BCBL (Basque Center on Cognition, Brain and Language) focused on awake surgery for glioma patients as well as brain connectivity and plasticity. Working together since 2011, we were initially keen on language processing but progressively moved on to other fields of cognition especially those involving the non-dominant hemisphere.
