A PhD position is available to work on the ANR project 'Cognitive Aging, Emotion, Strategies: studies in memory and arithmetic'. Emotion-cognition interactions change during aging: Some effects of emotion on cognition decrease with age, others increase. We ignore the underlying age-related changes in emotion-cognition interactions. To address this issue, we shall test the original strategic variations hypothesis : effects of emotion on cognition are mediated by differences in strategies and in how participants use, execute, and select strategies. Although the project is broader the PhD student will focus on memory. Behavioral and EEG experiments are planned.
The candidate should have theoretical knowledge and good experience in the experimental study of memory and/or emotions. Experience in EEG signal recording and processing will be appreciated. The candidate should send a CV, a letter of motivation, a letter of recommendation and transcripts of the Master's degree.
