An NICHD-funded postdoctoral fellowship for up to 3 years is available immediately, until filled, in Nelson Cowan’s laboratory on working memory and its development from the elementary school years through early adulthood. The successful candidate must bring skills that can enhance the research, potentially including advanced types of data analysis, computer programming (coding), computational modeling of cognition, experience with cognitive and developmental research, open science practices, and experience in scientific publishing. This will be a professional growth experience, so you should consider applying even if you have only some of these qualifications. Prof. Cowan is highly motivated to help the postdoc prepare for a longer-lasting (e.g., tenure-track) position; the postdoc will help supervise graduate and undergraduate students in the lab and will lead some projects, taking first authorship. The department allows postdocs to acquire teaching experience also, if desired. Salary ranges from $48,000 to $50,000 annually.
