Professor of Psychology with a Focus on Experimental Psychology, University of Technology Nuremberg, Nuremberg, Germany

The University of Technology Nuremberg is looking to fill, at the earliest possible date, a position as a Professor (m/f/d) (W2 with a Tenure Track to W3) of Psychology with a Focus on Experimental Psychology at the Department of Liberal Arts and Sciences. 

Your tasks: 

At the Department of Liberal Arts and Sciences, you represent the subject of psychology with a focus on experimental psychology in research and teaching. In this department, excellent, international humanities, social and natural scientists work together in an interdisciplinary way - also with the other departments, such as the Department of Engineering, which comprises the technical sciences. You are significantly involved in the development of the first departmental focus ""Human and Artificial Intelligence"", which is dedicated to the possibilities and limits of artificial intelligence and human cognitive ability. The goal is to bring together specific human rational reasoning skills with the strengths of AI applications in their development, application, and evaluation. For this purpose, you will collaborate with colleagues from the fields of Ancient Philosophy, Theoretical Sociology, Classical Philology and Psychology, and Cognitive Science, as well as with the researchers of the focus ""Robotics and Artificial Intelligence"" at the Department of Engineering.

Your profile:

This position is particularly intended for early career researchers, who show great potential for scientific development. 
You should be working in experimental psychology and have a research focus on social intelligence. You should be able to illustrate your corresponding research profile with relevant publications. Initial interdisciplinary experience is an advantage. If applicable, existing work on human or artificial intelligence is welcomed. In addition, you should be able to demonstrate the relevance of your work to dialogue with other, and including historical, disciplines, as well as a willingness to contribute to the aforementioned departmental focus. Interest in the department's other focus, ""Rhetoric and Political Communication"", is desired. 

Teaching experience, ideally in interdisciplinary contexts, is desired. We expect your participation in all teaching activities at the Department, including study course planning and engagement in the development of innovative digital teaching and learning concepts, as well as cooperation within and across departments.

Our offer:

The position is a fixed-term (6 year) professorship (W2). At the end of this fixed-term period, in case of a positive tenure-evaluation, the position will be converted to a permanent professorship (W3). The tenure-track statutes of the UTN (from April 20th 2023) apply.
