A four-year PhD contract in Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Granada, Spain

The Attention and Consciousness Laboratory at the University of Granada is offering a 4-year FPI contract to pursue a PhD in the Cognitive Neuroscience program.

The selected candidate will contribute to the development of the project "Rich but imprecise: exploring the quality of perceptual experiences" (PID2023-152001NB-I00), led by Professor Ana B. Chica MartĂnez. This project aims to explore the quality of perceptual experiences under different attentional conditions. Despite humans’ impression of perceiving vast amounts of information, data suggest that our perception is less rich than we believe and often flawed. This project will address this subjective aspect of perception, exploring how attention alters our perceptual experience. Using electroencephalography and multivariate pattern analysis, we will also explore how conscious and non-conscious information is represented in the brain under different attentional conditions.

The selected candidate will engage in this theoretically significant project, gaining substantial methodological training in psychophysical data analysis, data modelling, and electroencephalography analysis, including multivariate pattern analysis. As part of their training, the selected candidate will have the opportunity to spend at least one research period in an international laboratory.

Interested candidates should contact Professor Ana Chica before October 15th, providing the following documentation:

  • CV
  • Letter of motivation
  • At least one (and no more than three) letters of recommendation

Upon formal application for the contract, applicants must fulfil the following requirements:

  • Hold a Master's degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Biomedicine, Biotechnology, or related sciences.
  • Applicants must enroll in the PhD program in Psychology at the University of Granada (Cognitive Neuroscience research line) for the academic year 24/25. This will take place during the selection process.

Application deadline: 15 October 2024
