The Visual Attention Lab of Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) is looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow. BWH is one of the Harvard hospitals and the postdoc will have a Harvard Medical School affiliation and a hospital affiliation. Jeremy Wolfe is the lab director.
The primary focus of the lab is visual search: How we find what we are looking for. At present, we are particularly interested in “Look but fail to see” errors, where searchers fail to respond to items that are clearly visible, ‘right in front of their eyes’. These are errors that can be annoying (missed typos) or dangerous (missed cancer in an Xray). Our work is largely behavioral (including eye tracking) and includes in person and on-line studies. We do fundamental research as well as ‘use-inspired’ research, especially in the realm of medical image perception.
