Josie Booth (The University of Edinburgh) and Eva Van den Bussche (KU Leuven) are guest editing a special issue of British Journal of Developmental Psychology on "Citizen Science in developmental psychology research". Citizen science approaches to research are increasingly recognized as vital to enhance the real-world relevance, and application of research findings. Citizen science details active participation of non-researchers (ie, citizens) in the scientific process. In developmental psychology research, this can include a broad range of collaborative and participatory involvement, such as in the creation, production, design, analysis and/or interpretation of research, and in research-practice partnerships. This special issue invites contributions featuring any aspect of citizen science approaches in developmental psychology research, taking a lifespan and/or change-centered perspective. Abstract submission deadline is May 31, 2026.
