Call for Papers in Brain and Language: The Right Hemisphere in Language

Guest Editors: Dr. Diana López-Barroso and Dr. María José Torres-Prioris

Research on language has traditionally emphasized the dominant role of the left hemisphere. However, converging evidence from lesion studies, neuroimaging, and network-based approaches increasingly demonstrates that the right hemisphere contributes to language through both specialized linguistic processes and domain-general mechanisms. Despite these advances, important questions remain regarding the mechanisms underlying these contributions, including the interaction between language-specific and domain-general systems, the dynamics of interhemispheric coordination, and the role of the right hemisphere in language reorganization across development, ageing, and brain damage.
