We are delighted to announce that the 11th European Working Memory Symposium (EWoMS) will take place in Lyon, France, from August 26 to 28, 2026. The theme of this edition, “Working Memory, Strategy, and Consciousness”, highlights emerging directions in the field and aims, for the first time, to explicitly bridge traditional cognitive approaches with neuroscientific perspectives on working memory.

EWOMS is a recurring, high-profile event dedicated to the study of working memory, held every two years at rotating European locations. The 11th edition will take place in Lyon, France, from August 26th to 28th, 2026. The 2026 theme — Working Memory, Strategy, and Consciousness — aims to bridge traditional cognitive perspectives and neuroscientific approaches to working memory (WM). We will explore how strategic control processes, awareness, and unconscious mechanisms interact to shape WM performance.

Horizon Europe Framework Program (HORIZON) Doctoral Networks, 'Bridging Communication Gaps in Human and Human-AI Interactions: The Role of Accented Speech on Neurocognitive mechanisms and Social Dynamics' (HUM.AI.N-ACCENT). The Doctoral Candidates (DCs) will be part of an international network of 13 research labs located throughout Europe who work on the EU funded HUM.AI.N-ACCENT project. The full consortium counts with a total of 24 academic and non-academic partners in Europe, Canada and the USA. As part of the training, the DC will attend regular events across Europe and will realize short stays (secondments) to at least two Beneficiary/Partner Organizations.
