ESCOP SUMMER/WINTER SCHOOL 2026: CALL FOR PROPOSALS
We are thrilled to announce that the ESCoP is now accepting proposals for the upcoming Summer or Winter Schools to be held in 2026! Whether you're an experienced researcher or just starting out, this is a fantastic opportunity to design and lead an innovative academic event that can truly make a difference in the cognitive science community.
WHAT KIND OF EVENT(S)?
We're looking for fresh, engaging proposals for in-person summer or winter schools that provide a rich environment for intellectual exchange. You could organize workshops or even field-specific courses focusing on current topics, emerging methodologies, or theoretical discussions. Whether your event highlights practical skills, theoretical advances, or brings together various subfields of cognitive science, we encourage creativity in designing an experience that benefits a wide range of participants.
WHEN WILL THESE EVENTS TAKE PLACE?
The selected schools can take place in either summer or winter of 2026. You have the flexibility to choose the season and timeframe that best fits your vision, as long as the event takes place during 2026.
WHAT'S THE TIMELINE?
Proposals should be submitted by January 15, 2025, and will be evaluated by the ESCoP Executive committee. The applicants will be notified of the outcome by May 1, 2025.
WHAT'S THE BUDGET?
ESCoP has allocated a total budget of 40,000 Euros, and we plan to fund at least two events, each with a budget of maximum 20,000 Euros. If you can secure co-funding from your university or other institutions, please include that information in your submission.
WHAT CAN THE BUDGET BE USED FOR?
The awarded funds can be used flexibly according to your event's needs—be it speaker fees, venue costs, materials, or administrative support. You will have full control over how the budget is managed, following your institution's regulations.
HOW DO I SUBMIT A PROPOSAL?
Your proposal should be a concise document (ie, no more than 5 pages) that clearly outlines your event idea. Include details on the structure of the event, who will be invited, the targeted audience, your budget, how you plan to promote the school, and the expected outcomes. You are welcome to include text, images, and figures to strengthen your case. Proposals should be submitted to escop.secretary@gmail.com by January 15, 2025.
WHAT DO I GET IF SELECTED?
In addition to financial support, ESCoP will help promote your event through our network, giving it visibility in our newsletter and on social media. You'll also gain access to the broader ESCoP community, including the opportunity to collaborate with the Journal of Cognition to potentially curate a special collection of papers tied to your event.
WHO CAN APPLY?
Anyone can apply provided that they are an ESCOP member. Whether you are an established academic or an Early Career Researcher, we encourage you to submit a proposal. We also encourage you to give priority to attendees who are ESCOP members.
