The 2025 call for the ESCoP Early Career Publication Awards is now available on our website! This award (€1000) recognizes outstanding publications by early-career researchers, with separate categories for PhD students and postdocs. The application deadline is April 15, 2025, and winners will be announced in the May newsletter.

ESCoP invites applications for thematic meetings scheduled for 2026, offering partial funding of up to 4,000 euros per event. These meetings, organized exclusively by ESCoP members, should focus on research areas relevant to the society and be limited to 60 participants, with at least 50% of senior attendees being ESCoP members.

ESCoP invites proposals for the 2026 Summer or Winter Schools, offering up to €20,000 per event to support innovative, in-person academic gatherings in cognitive science. The schools can focus on workshops, emerging methodologies, or theoretical discussions.

On the occasion of International Women's Month, Women in Cognitive Science-Europe and Royal Holloway University of London, are hosting the online seminar "Addressing Gender-Based Violence in Academia" on Monday,  10th March 2025 (1pm GMT / 2pm CET).

At the earliest possible date, we are looking to support our team: A research assistant with a focus on research - cognitive psychology (75 %) in the project “Separating processes of dual-task coordination and dual-task coordination adjustment” funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). The project is led by Prof. Dr. Tilo Strobach. The project is limited to 36 months.

The Basque Center on Cognition, Brain and Language is offering a research assistant position  (temporary: 6 months) aimed at investigating the neural circuitry involved in reading. The research will entail acquiring new MRI data, utilize already acquired data and conducting analyses on functional and structural MRI data.

We invite applications for a PhD research fellowship in Psychology in the field of affective neuroscience at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. Under the direction of Professor Rigoulot, our laboratory offers a unique and dynamic environment where we employ state-of-the-art techniques including EEG, eye-tracking, and psychophysiological measures to examine neural correlates of emotional processing.

The Relational Reasoning Meeting provides a forum for the dissemination of new developments in the study of relational reasoning. Relational reasoning is a cornerstone of human cognition, enabling quintessentially human behavior and (as yet) unmatched intelligence. It is studied from various perspectives (behavior-analytic, cognitive-mechanistic, neurological) and across different systems (human, animal, AI systems).

We are looking for a postdoc with a background in academic research in the field of data- analytic approaches in cognitive (neuro)science and/or artificial intelligence. The postdoc will support teaching and data-analysis in the department, in addition to developing her/his own research.

The Basque Center on Cognition, Brain and Language (BCBL) is offering a predoctoral position for a PhD project aimed at investigating perceptual consciousness and metacognition. The research will utilize visual psychophysics and functional MRI techniques, including decoded neurofeedback.

We're reaching out to invite you to the new online International Cognitive Development Seminar Series, organised by Dr Agnieszka Graham (Queen's University Belfast) and Dr Alicia Forsberg (The University of Sheffield). 

Statistical learning (SL) is a crucial capacity supporting efficient cognition and action throughout the lifespan. SL is an organism’s ability to attune to coherent covariation in its environment (e.g., an infant learning sound patterns of a language, or visual patterns corresponding to objects). This project uses recurrent neural network modeling to investigate the types of computations that may support human SL. The modeling motivates EEG and MEG studies with human subjects. Together, the modeling and experiments will advance our understanding of the nature and computational basis for human SL.

Job description: designing and implementing studies exploring FDS perception and production in adults; analysing acoustic, behavioural and electrophysiological data during speech processing; writing research articles under the supervision of the PI, aiming to publish at top-tier journals; dissemination of results at international scientific conferences and to general public.

In particular, highly innovative research ideas as well as research-in-progress are encouraged. The idea of ​​the CSA is to reverse the usual format of scientific conferences. Young researchers first: they play the starring role (no talks or posters from senior researchers are allowed), they compete for a prize for the best talk and poster voted by the audience. We would like to bring together young and promising minds now working in cognitive science and provide them with a fruitful and cooperative environment.

However early biomarkers of speech processing deficits that have been documented in reading disabilities such as Developmental Dyslexia (DD) have yet to be identified. Here, we will explore whether the cortical tracking of speech (CTS) - the temporal alignment between fluctuations in the speech signal and fluctuations in electrical brain activity – can predict later reading deficits in DD.

However, biologically constrained models of spoken and visual word recognition are still lacking, particularly in the domains of bilingualism. Here, we will investigate the neurobiological underpinnings of speech and reading in bilinguals and second language learners using data collected with advanced neuroimaging tools in our lab. 

The Attention and Consciousness Laboratory at the University of Granada is offering a 4-year FPI contract to pursue a PhD in the Cognitive Neuroscience program. The selected candidate will contribute to the development of the project "Rich but imprecise: exploring the quality of perceptual experiences" (PID2023-152001NB-I00), led by Professor Ana B. Chica Martínez. This project aims to explore the quality of perceptual experiences under different attentional conditions.

We are looking for a candidate with an interest in research and neuroscience to work on a project in collaboration with Meta AI on decoding the neural correlates of language production. You will be in charge of collecting MEG data and recruiting research participants. In addition, you will be processing video recordings to extract finger tracking measures.
