The 18th International Conference on Music Perception and Cognition (ICMPC)

São Paulo, Brazil
21-25 July 2025

We are pleased to invite submissions for the 18th International Conference on Music Perception and Cognition jointly organized with the 17th International Conference of the Brazilian Association of Cognition and Musical Arts. The ICMPC 18 will be held in a hybrid format (participation will be possible either in-person or through virtual attendance), with most activities live-streamed and accessible remotely.

The conference invites papers focused on the systematic exploration of musical behavior and cognition.Under the theme ""Echoes and Ecologies: New Landscapes for Music Perception and Cognition,"" the event seeks to examine the intricate interactions between auditory experiences and the varied environments in which they occur. It promotes interdisciplinary research, encouraging participants to investigate how progress in psychology, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and related fields is reshaping our comprehension of music perception and cognition within an evolving technological and transcultural context. While this theme serves as a guiding concept, submissions are not required to adhere strictly to it. Researchers in all areas of music cognition are encouraged to pursue their interests within this broad and dynamic field.
