The successful applicant will work with Klaus Oberauer and the Cognitive Psychology team. The post involves research and teaching (one course per semester). Our research focuses on capacity limits of cognition, in particular working memory, long-term memory, and attention, which we investigate with experimental, individual-differences, and computational modeling studies. 

The freshly established Perceptual Inference Group at the BCBL studies how the subcortical and early cortical stages of the brain work together to make sense of the sensory world. This project will investigate how the brain learns to predict the onset of incoming sounds with high temporal precision, conforming the sensations of rhythm in speech and music. The project will make use a combination of modelling and high-resolution fMRI to explore the encoding of time in the human brain. 

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a background in psycholinguistics, experimental linguistics, or experimental psychology (Ph.D. in Psychology, Cognitive Science, or Linguistics). The ideal candidate has expertise in experimental data analysis and excellent written communication skills in English. Programming skills (e.g., Python, Matlab) are a plus.
